Sidewalk Traffic
Why are people always driving with nowhere to go?
You see nothing but empty sidewalks and bustling roads.
It’s the cars that give us an excuse to turn a blind eye,
For who could make us meet our neighbors when everything blurs by?
In this city that spews nothing but crude oil and gas,
Just close your eyes tight and reminisce of times past:
Time didn’t rush us, it let us breathe in and sigh
How nice was this town with fresh air outside.
No cars, just walking through the crinkle of leaves
Listening laughing relating we kept each other company.
We must protect this town from the smog in the air,
Else the chemicals will clog our vision until the neighbors are no longer there.
