I have become somewhat of

a sunrise collector 

There are times when I wake up 

only to see and to capture

 the pink and purple 

behind shadowed silhouettes

 Or the peach mist

as it creeps across the trees

Even the deep 

red reflections

contribute to

the blend of colors 

that paint the sky 

which is always worth the rise

 A sunset looks 

the same 

in color 

but the difference lies 

in feeling

A sunrise is 

an opening rather than a close

an opening

beautiful 

because it is

Solitary 

Still

Quiet

 A moment of

light 

breaking 

through the darkness 

for the first time
