September Love Letters
Welcome to Love Letters - a once-per-month ode to you, our amazing readers and Coven community.
The idea for Love Letters was created by one of our amazing editors, Atreyi. She had the idea to create a monthly roundup that includes a love letter to you, words of encouragement, Coven member highlights, and resources to help you through whatever it is you’re going through.
Without further ado, let’s get into our first ever edition of Love Letters.
Hi lovelies, we are so glad you're here.
Welcome to the first ever love letter! The start of something new (I apologize for the High School Musical reference) is always so exciting, don't you think?
The Coven Editorial Team decided to curate monthly letters where we share positive news, affirmations, helpful resources, and so much more! We wanted this initiative to be a ray of sunshine during these tough times. You are not alone and we've got your back! ❤
You can read part of the letter on our website and subscribe for access to the other half!
We look forward to bringing you more such letters and spreading love, hope, and light.
Until next time,
Anna, Atreyi, Anita, Kate, Paige & Caroline
Love Letter
To our lovely Coven community,
There’s not much to say that hasn’t been said over the past year and a half. There have been so many encouraging messages about keeping your head up, staying strong, and congratulating you for keeping everything together (and congratulating you even if you haven’t kept it all together.) All of these messages are motivational and true - but we want to give you a love letter today.
We love you and encourage you to not only find the love directed your way, but to also give love freely and generously. As much as you feel love directed towards you in your life, we hope that you have the space to give it back to those that are close to you (and to those you may not even know.)
Find the love in everyday situations. A friend texting to check in. Someone giving you a smile. Seeing friends or couples on your daily walks.
Know that you are loved.
Writer Spotlights: Anjali and Lindsey
Anjali’s Love Letter:
“Most recently, I wrote an article for Coven about the FDA’s approval of the Pfizer vaccine. This article breaks down general questions individuals have about vaccine production, and much of the article focuses on how the vaccine was made and its ingredients. The latter half focuses on the anti-vaxxer movement across America and why it is so important to get a vaccine. Writing this article was very important to me because of how pervasive COVID-19 has been over a year later. Because capacity limits and mask mandates have been lifted in many states, many feel as if this pandemic is over. This could not be farther from the truth, and vaccination is a clear-cut way to seeing this pandemic’s end.
I have been writing for Coven since March 2021, and I have genuinely enjoyed every bit of it. Writing has been one of my greatest joys since I can remember, and I am so glad to be part of this community. I have written for other magazines and publications before, but Coven is far more special because of the values they uphold for their readers. Coven has allowed me and other women to express themselves in a safe, creative place that educates the broader community on important issues. I’m so grateful to have such a supportive groups of readers. Thank you for spreading our messages, and always remember that your voice is important and your ideas are worth sharing.”
Lindsey’s Love Letter:
“My latest article, “The Reality of Working Girl Summer,” revolves around the dichotomy of my plans for summer 2021 and my actual summer. What I thought would be a momentous, movie-like time in my life turned out to be closer to Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” than anything from Spielberg’s portfolio. In coming to terms with that, I have truly understood what it means to make the best out of your situation.
I am incredibly grateful for Coven: for granting me a platform to share my thoughts, for publishing articles that I genuinely want to read, but most of all, for giving me access to a community of boss-ass women. Being a young woman is so intense, yet there aren’t very many publications created for us. Literature about college students are few and far between and online media for young women are often geared for adults or high schoolers. Coven is here to provide us with that one thing we’re missing: a place where collegiate women exist, communicate, and belong.”
Affirmations
My challenges are actually opportunities.
I surrender what I cannot control so that I can receive guidance.
