Halloqueen Horoscopes

Scorpio season is in full swing, and it is a sexy, magical time to be a femme witch! As the sun enters the fixed, water sign of Scorpio, be especially conscious of any other transitions in your physical and metaphysical life. Maintain a stable emotional demeanour and mind-set in the face of any unexpected change. Uranus in Taurus has recently risen to polarity with the sun, so expect breakthroughs and epiphanies that may be accompanied by unpredictable anxiety and mood swings.

While Scorpio season is often associated with intensity and passion, it is important to remember that Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio, and Pluto represents everything that is in your subconscious mind. Hence, this new season will bring––alongside Scorpio’s notorious strength and energy––transcendance and understanding. Libra season (and all the aesthetic superficiality that came with it) is over; harmless, flirty interactions won’t be so harmless anymore. These next few weeks are all about intimate conversations and getting to the root of all the issues plaguing your day-to-day. No more detaching from your own emotions––own the way you feel, and better yet: commit yourself to understanding why you feel that way.

Venus retrograde came this October 5th, and will last until November 16th. Planets in retrograde appear to move in an opposite direction in the sky, and thus their usually-ascribed effects are inverted! Don’t be surprised if you feel a sudden change in how you feel towards your romantic, sexual, and/or platonic relationships, or even in how you approach your finances. If you were rocking a stable level of self-confidence before October 5th, don’t fret if doubts begin to arise about self-worth or any external or internal beauty! Conversely, if you have been lacking in some areas of self-confidence lately, revel in any newfound appreciation for the kickass goddess you are and learn how to stick with this feeling long after Venus leaves retrograde.

Expect aesthetics to shift––if not altogether flip entirely. Dare yourself to try out a different style that you’ve been eyeing but haven’t yet been able to commit to, whether it’s switching up your hair look or going rogue in the way you usually dress.

This autumn is all about embracing change and understanding the many multifaceted quirks that make you, you!

To better understand what the stars have planned for you over this coming season, read on! Coven has carefully curated overviews and in-depth horoscopes for each sign, including movie, music, and tv show rec’s, as well as a quote or two to think about this upcoming Fall.

Sagittarius (november 22-december 21)

spirituality-man-repeller-april-2018-katie-2-636x954.jpg
  • general overview & traits: Sagittarius is the most idealistic of the signs, with those born under it preferring the grand, the beautiful, the good and the noble. They are especially disappointed when their high expectations for life, others, and themselves are not met. Curious by nature, they crave travel and have been exploring whatever they have access to since they were young. Learning about and appreciating other cultures has always been one of a Sagittarius’ favorite pastimes. Sags are all about the big picture––but sometimes to a fault. In their effort to see the whole world and everyone that lives in it, they have a tendency to ignore the small but important details of living. Sagittarius’ are independent and free, buoyant and cheerful, and surround themselves with like-minded people (who love having you around). Their lives tend to be punctuated by bursts of energy and frenetic activity. These sunny character traits are likely attributed to Sagittarius’ governing planet Jupiter, but to remain balanced, Jupiter also prescribes bouts of overzealousness, anxiety, impulsivity, and a constant desire to do more.

  • autumn horoscope: You Sags are going places and doing things! In both a physical and metaphysical sense, you have been journeying through parts unknown and have been having the time of your life––even if only in your backyard; even if only in your mind. Your career opportunities are about to skyrocket into new and unexpected ways, but consider all your options carefully before making any decisions. The same advice goes for your romantic life this upcoming season, too. You may not feel overwhelmed by romantic options just yet, but as soon as your birthday rolls around, you may begin to feel slightly anxious about your love life. Don’t allow yourself to get bogged down by your own indecisiveness and tackle any obstacle that comes your way head-on. Now is not a time to procrastinate! Hustle hard, and you will be rewarded tenfold for it. Keep saving for that big trip next summer and catch up with an old friend you haven’t spoken to for a while. They miss you.

  • musical anthem: Seek gentle refuge with Michael Cera’s Clay Pigeons and take a quiet and reflective bus ride around the country. Yes, he does have an entire album, and yes, it is exactly as peaceful as Michael Cera looks.

  • entertainment craving: For the quirky and sometimes morbid humor ascribed to Sagittarius, watch the unfortunately short-lived 2007 show Pushing Daisies about a disastrously cute pie baker that brings people back to life (to solve murder cases, of course). For movies, take a profoundly new perspective on life with It’s Such a Beautiful Day (2012), an experimental animated film directed by Don Herztfeldt.

  • your fortune cookie says:
True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” ––C.S. Lewis, November 29
"There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.” ––Jane Austen, December 16

Capricorn (dec 22-jan 19)

  • general overview & traits: This is the scholarly, intellectual sign that produces deep-thinkers and philosophers. Yet with it, Capricorns apply themselves most often to practical things. This can help them shake off their occasionally gloomy moods caused by their governing planet, Saturn, which also projects an introverted nature. Capricorns are all about balance and spend their whole lives striving to live in perfect harmony with themselves and with the world. They are almost always calm and deliberate, both in words and in actions. But when conflict arises, Capricorns can get very defensive very quickly. They are prone to overworking at times to keep up with the high standards they set for themselves and thus can easily burn out. The plus-side to this is that the work they create is impeccable and inspiring to those around them, making Capricorns strong––if at times reluctant––leaders.

  • autumn horoscope: Capricorn –– girl. What’s been going so wrong lately that you feel this down about yourself? You have always worked so hard to achieve your goals, and your successes far outweigh your failures. You might forget sometimes that with each experience –– positive or negative –– comes an incredibly important learning experience. You have always been so wise beyond your years, and that comes out of making mistakes and trying again. Right now is no different. You have been faced with a challenge that seems almost insurmountable, and it has affected your pace of life profoundly. Take a second to breathe and relax. Unregulated stress can be your undoing––but a little pressure on you has always produced the best results. This fall, be sure to moderate your time between work life and your social life, but give yourself a little more time to surround yourself with the ones you love most. You have spent this whole year working your hardest, so give yourself at least a few weeks’ break. Hard as it may be, try and open up to those closest to you and allow yourself to be a little vulnerable––stewing in your own thoughts hasn’t been producing the best results. Above all, remember that even if things don’t seem their best at this exact moment, time heals everything. Sometimes it is easiest to just take things day by day, and if even that proves too stressful, take it minute by minute. It’s all just a matter of time.

  • musical anthem: Enjoy right now, today, with 2009 by recently passed hip hop legend and fellow Capricorn, Mac Miller, off his latest album release Swimming. Reflect on life and its sometimes harsh realities, but always remember to take care of yourself, first and foremost, before you give so much of yourself away to others.

  • entertainment craving: If you feel like you’ve been having an identity crisis, wait until you see what kind of existentialism Netflix-produced show Sense8 has to offer. Though it tends to rub some people the wrong way, the show is still well-loved by a committed fanbase, and you Capricorns are no strangers to being misunderstood. For a comedic, but eerily striking commentary on the “manic pixie dream girl” trope (that so many Capricorns get typed as), watch the 2012 film Ruby Sparks, written by and starring the real-life couple of Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan.

"I have this strange feeling that I’m not myself anymore. It’s hard to put into words, but I guess it’s like I was fast asleep, and someone came, disassembled me, and hurriedly put me back together again. That sort of feeling." --Haruki Murakami, January 12

Aquarius (jan 20-feb 18)

spirituality-man-repeller-april-2018-Alexandra-2-636x954.jpg
  • general overview & traits: Aquarians are at first glance simple, unassuming people. They absorb information from around them quietly and quickly (so they know that tea!), but they are so kind and honest to everyone that they are never regarded with suspicion or distrust. Aquarians often like to be alone, but only because they enjoy their own company so much and they do much of their best thinking alone. Quirky to the point of eccentricity, these quietly kind and selfless Aquarians always manages to stick out of the pack in one unique way or another, though it is often unintentional. Their one flaw is that, given the circumstances, they may be prone to laziness, which can make them lethargic and doubt themselves in times when they typically would not. Still, Aquarians have a deep devotion to humanity and bettering the world that is seldom forgotten. They are some of the most friendly and artistic signs, and are especially passionate about a creative medium of their choosing, whether it is music, theatre, film, or design, among the million other artistic pursuits Aquarians excel at.

  • autumn horoscope: You Aquarians are no strangers to daydreaming. Escapism is your middle name, and lately all you can think about is getting away. Fortunately for you, you’ll be getting to do just that in the coming weeks. Soon enough, you will find yourself visiting or re-visiting a place that feels entirely new. You yourself have felt brand-new for quite some time now. Maybe it’s because of that new haircut, new way you’re dressing, or because the person you are today is so changed from the person you used to be. Change is the anthem of Aquarians, and while you are used to it and are an incredibly adaptable person because of it, it can still sometimes feel scary. In the next Lunar cycle, change is coming for every sign, but especially for Aquarians. It is important to embrace everything that comes, despite and in spite of your fear. Escaping from reality only works so well when you’re sleeping; dare yourself to face everything that hurtles into your path head-on, and you will find yourself becoming even stronger because of it.

  • musical anthem: If you’re feeling witchy or you’re in an empowered, magical mood, listen to Fleetwood Mac’s classic, Gold Dust Woman. This is exactly what you are. This is it.

  • entertainment craving: Get in the ~spooky~ spirit without having to get over your fear of scary movies with Cartoon Network’s short animated series, Over The Garden Wall. It’s mysterious, creepy, and irresistibly cute. If you’re in the mood for a more introspective but beautifully shot film, try Lost In Translation (2003), directed by Sofia Coppola. Pay special attention to the dialogue between the main two characters! They are an embodiment of the chemistry between two Aquarians.

“The truth is that you need to say yes to suffering before you can transcend it.” — Eckhart Tolle, February 16

Pisces (feb 19-mar 20)

  • general overview & traits: Pisces are some of the most modest and empathetic signs of the zodiac. Extremely sensitive to their own feelings as well as others’, they make for loyal, lifelong friends. However, Pisces’ governing planet, Jupiter, grants a nature so generous that it becomes over trustful and self-sacrificial; beware of others becoming overly dependent on your kindness and sympathy. Because of their unselfish dispositions, Pisces often fail to realize their own potential and rarely put themselves first. Additionally, the deep modesty of a Pisces warrants occasional bouts of anxiety and insecurity––though through everything they always remain grounded and down-to-earth. Particularly idealistic, Pisces are dreamers at heart and have a vivid imagination that they love to share with others. They possess gentle charity, true humility, calmness in conflict situations, and consistent sincerity.

  • autumn horoscope: You have been so confident these past few weeks, and it’s awesome. You’ve been yearning for new experiences and to meet new people. Learning a foreign language is suddenly kind of what you want to do all the time? You Pisces have been looking everywhere for something to stimulate your mind, but maybe not far enough. Now is an amazing time to travel if you can, even if it’s only to the next town over. Broaden your horizons even further by picking up a good podcast, listening to a new band, or picking up an unusual hobby. In general, try and avoid negative people as your acute ability to empathise with them will cause you to become negative too. This doesn’t mean cutting out everyone from your life, but if you’re being honest with yourself and your relationship with someone is unhealthy, forgive yourself for putting yourself first. Allow yourself to live for yourself.

  • musical anthem: Humble yourself with the quietly powerful tune Death With Dignity by Sufjan Stevens, and feel all the feels while you’re at it.

  • entertainment craving: Take a trip back to the early 90’s, when surrealism, mystery and overall wackiness was at its peak by exploring the eerie town of Twin Peaks, where the amazing 80’s-turned-90’s fashion isn’t the only thing that kills. If you’re in the mood to feel a lot and maybe even cry (in joy!) about your own human-ness, have a viewing of The Lobster (2015), directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

Aries (mar 21-apr 19)

  • general overview & traits: Those born under Aries are keen, creative, and highly adaptive; but they can also be impulsive and headstrong. This can be accounted for by the governing planet of Mars, which adds an aggressive touch to an already active and ambitious nature. Though quick to anger, Aries people often calm easily. They are naturally humourous and always the life of any party they grace. They enjoy music and entertainment. Natural-born leaders, Aries have a way of swaying people into agreeing with them, and always say the right thing at the right time. However, Aries are at the mercy of their impatience, which can turn them fickle or self-centered, and are prone to spending money irresponsibly in times of crisis.

  • autumn horoscope: Aries––take a long, hard look at the life you lead right now. No BS. Do you absolutely love where you’re at? What is it that you still want? Go and get it. You are so capable of such incredible things, and now is the best time to pursue everything your ambition leads you towards. You’ve been feeling a little antsy as of late, and spontaneity is everything for Aries right now. Be a little reckless, have a little fun, but never forget to keep yourself and your loved ones in check: it’s what you’re best at. If you’re feeling a little more brutally honest than usual, it’s probably because the people in your life need it right now. It’s time to muster up all the courage that fills your bones and be there for those that are really important in your life; they need you and your strength more than ever. This next month, unfortunately, isn’t the strongest for your romantic relationships, but your platonic friendships are especially emphasised, and your connection with your self will reach epiphanic levels of control and awareness. Now is not the time to fuss about crushes or inconsequential hook-ups––you will only hurt yourself in the process. Message an old friend and reinforce your bond with them. That’s a lifelong companion you can count on, NOT the guy in your life that hasn’t been treating you like you deserve.

  • musical anthem: Fire yourself up with half•alive’s recently released tune still feel., which is both jazzy and electric (just like you!). You’re still alive, and that’s something to celebrate!

  • entertainment craving: If you’re in the mood for campy, ridiculous humor, Danger 5 is Australia’s short-lived action-packed satire that will have you laughing at even the most bizarre situations. For an equally surreal, strangely funny film, try Swiss Army Man (2016), starring Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe and directed by Daniels.

  • your fortune cookie says:
“I want to rest. I want to breathe quietly again.” —Tennessee Williams, March 26
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” ––Maya Angelou, April 4

Taurus (apr 20-may 20)

  • general overview & traits: Strength is the dominating feature of Taurans. With it, however, is a stubborn, firm-set nature that is difficult to change. But Taurans are sympathetic by nature, and are almost always won over by emotion rather than reason. They are deeply empathetic and are excellent listeners, but are practical enough to be selfish when absolutely necessary. Though Taurans are prone to large egos, they always have the determination and ambition to match. Lazy as they typically are, once a Taurus has their mind set on a project, they will not stop at anything until it is absolutely perfect. They have an acute sense of balance, meaning that despite their emotional knee-jerk reactions, they always keep themselves (and others) in check by remaining pragmatic and rational.

  • autumn horoscope: There is a stellium in Scorpio right now (meaning over three planets are in one sign!), indicating a strong romantic relationship in the next few weeks. If you are already in a committed partnership, this just means your connection will be even more passionate and intimate. If you’re currently single, though, keep an eye out for soulmate-material to appear in your life. It might feel sudden, even if your feelings towards this person have been developing for a while, but don’t shy away from the way you feel! Your interactions over the next season are going to be driven by intense emotional responses. However, since Venus is your ruling planet and it is still in retrograde until early November, be wary if your mood swings and don’t cut anyone off for the time being unless absolutely necessary.

  • musical anthem: As natural-born storytellers, Taurans always seek out songs with lyrics that move or impact them in some way. This month, give Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle & Sebastian a listen; their Irish folk song inspiration shines through in this mild and quirky tune.

  • entertainment craving: Netflix’s acclaimed series American Vandal is laugh-out-loud funny, surprisingly complex, and isn’t above a poop joke. Silly as it might be, it is also strangely meditative and the perfect binge for goofy Taurans. For a more sophisticated film to balance out your palate, delve into the cinematic wonderland of Chungking Express (1994), directed by Wong-Kar Wai.

Gemini (may 21-jun 20)

spirituality-man-repeller-april-2018-cassondra-2-copy-636x954.jpg
  • general overview & traits: Adaptability is the keynote of any Gemini. Not only are they versatile, they are quick to understand situations and will act in the spur of the moment, and often very effectively. Duality of nature is apparent in this Twin sign, manifesting a reckless, imaginative, and impulsive mind that can be easily distracted or change quickly. As well as being spontaneous, they are generous and affectionate; but their frequent desire for change makes them dissatisfied with existing conditions. Fickle as they are, Geminis are quick to respond to change and thrive in it, even craving chaos if they are especially bored. Geminis are also the most affectionate of the zodiac, and though it may be difficult for them to open up and be vulnerable in front of others, once their trust is gained, they make for lifelong companions. Geminis just love love, and if you’re able to get past their tough exteriors, you would find only soft fondness at their core.

  • autumn horoscope: Lately, you’ve had some difficulty expressing yourself, and if you’re creative, you might have been feeling some kind of block in your head that’s been as frustrating as it is unproductive. Despite this, you’re still working as hard as ever––maybe too much. Nevertheless, you have been BALLIN as a result, and that’s something to celebrate. The hustle has been so real, and it has consumed so much of your time. Rest assured knowing it’s been worth it, as you’ve been rewarded incredible luck––not to mention a fat paycheck as well. You are the master of truth manifestations: you speak what you want into existence. Whether it’s been pure luck or your endless ambition and determination has finally paid off, you are in recent possession of some serious coin! These next few weeks are a great time for positive change in a Gemini’s life: try eliminating bad habits and make sure you’re treating your body right and eating well. A night to yourself never hurt anyone, and if you think you won’t have time for it, make time. You need this just as much as everyone in your life needs it. Treat yourself to a facemask, bubble bath, and Netflix kind of night, and see how quickly your mood shifts to positivity and optimism in the next few days.

  • musical anthem: It has been a moody month of catching feelings for you Gemini’s. Come On Mess Me Up by Cub Sport isn’t the perfect antidote––but it’ll certainly feel relieving.

  • entertainment craving: Maniac, starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, is one of Netflix’s latest series, guaranteed to satisfy the needs of any daydreaming, suspense-loving Gemini. If you’ve been in a more meditative mood, try Comet (2014), directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail. Despite being a film that is almost entirely dialogue between two people, the surreal, transdimensional journey it takes you on is well worth the word-heavy pace.

  • your fortune cookie says:
“She wears strength and darkness equally well, the girl has always been half goddess, half hell.” — Nikita Gill, June 20
Fear is stupid. So are regrets.” –– Marilyn Monroe, June 1

Cancer (jun 21-jul 22)

  • general overview & traits: Cancers are profoundly sensitive people, in tune with themselves and with others, but who prefer to be in familiar surroundings. Cautious and wary of change, Cancers love the warmth of a home and value family and tradition above all else. They don’t open up easily to strangers, but friendships are made for life and their trust and loyalty will never waver. When Cancers feel especially self-confident, they are sentimental, gentle, giving, and protective of the needs of others. However, when they feel insecure or threatened, Cancers become shy, withdrawn, moody, and overly sensitive to criticism. They have a strong need for security in the sense that their loved ones (and themselves!) are being loved, nourished and protected.

  • autumn horoscope: Cancer––you have been killing it lately! You might not be able to place where it’s coming from, but you have had all the energy and confidence in the world. Your work ethic is at an all time high, your love life looks great, and your creative flow is pretty much flooding every aspect of your life. Let your imagination run wild and create something! This season is all about having fun and not worrying the little things; though it might feel like the hardest thing, let go of your inhibitions and just enjoy yourself! Though these past few months might have left you exhausted and weary, don’t stop yourself short of living life the way you deserve. You are, at times, too kind, and it can be immensely emotionally draining. Now is the time for you. Do whatever makes you happiest: paint, read a new book, go clubbing with your girls, visit your family––anything that is for you and you only. You deserve the world and more.

  • musical anthem: Citizen by Broken Bells is wavy, intangible joy, and isn’t that kind of what being a Cancer is all about?

  • entertainment craving: The titular star of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is bubbly, kind, and impossibly optimistic––so she’s probably a Cancer. While this is probably the comfiest show to watch, be wary of falling into the trap of binging entire seasons in a day (as this show is very capable of doing). Speaking of falling, for those with more of a TV-aversion, you may enjoy The Fall (2006)––a deeply spiritual, emotional, and fantastic folay into the mind––directed by Tarsem Singh.

  • your fortune cookie says:
“You will hear thunder and remember me, and think: she wanted storms.” — Anna Akhmatova, June 23

spirituality-man-repeller-april-2018-Rebecca-2-636x954.jpg

Leo (jul 23-aug 22)

  • general overview & traits: Leo is the sign of exuberance, denoting a powerful personality and born leadership. Both ambition and idealism are present under Leo, with its brilliance reflected in its governing planet, the Sun. But when Leo’s fall victims to their own shortcomings, they can begin doubting themselves beyond belief. However, Leo’s always manage to find a silver lining, even in their own faults. They may appear arrogant at times, but it is only their well-earned confidence shining through. They are reckless and impulsive at times––but always keep themselves in check. They are brave, generous, and quick to follow their intuition, especially in reading people and situations. A Leo’s charm and charisma is unmatched, and they leave a significant mark on anyone they meet.

  • autumn horoscope: A change of environment came earlier this year, but the excitement from it might have died down by now. There’s no harm in staying in a bit more than usual, because your own company is exactly what you need right now. You’ve got a strong connection with home life and family at the moment, so ensure you keep up with relatives and maybe even spend some time redecorating your place!

  • musical anthem: Treat yourself to a good cry sesh and listen to Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime by Beck, off The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind soundtrack. Everybody does have to learn sometimes, even (and especially) you.

  • entertainment craving: Some good old fashioned camp horror never hurt anyone––except maybe those traumatized by the more gory elements the TV series American Horror Story has to offer. Still, the show has been running for over seven years now, and its many accolades speak for itself. If it’s your first time watching this anthology series, start with the first season, as it is arguably considered the best. If you’re hooked after finishing it, follow up with Season 3 (Coven...duh) and then consider starting the latest season (Apocalypse, S3), which is a crossover of Seasons 1 and 3 and is still currently airing. If you’re not in the mood for horror, take a chance on  J’ai Tué Ma Mère/I Killed My Mother (2009), a Quebeçois coming-of-age story by young director Xavier Dolan.

Virgo (august 23-september 22)

  • general overview & traits: This is the sign of analysis. It is home to some of the most capable yet difficult personalities in the entire zodiac. The governing planet, Mercury, may be to blame, as its gravitas manifests good reasoners and convincing talkers that follow their own agenda. Virgos have inquiring minds that will not rest until they have learned everything they want to know about something. Their analytical ability causes them to find fault in people and projects. While their purpose is generally constructive, they are often regarded as too honest or critical. For the most part, Virgos are imaginative, quick-witted, hard-working, and fond of intellectual pursuits. They are excellent writers and have an intuitive intellect.

  • autumn horoscope: Your perfectionism and workaholic attitude has paid off, b. You are f l o w e r i n g like never before, glowing into your truest self and immortalising your inner goddess. It’s time to splurge a little in life and treat yourself to that one thing you been eyeing for so long. Don’t fret too much about the big picture like you usually do, and allow yourself to appreciate the little things in life that you deserve. Stay cautious of anybody who abruptly reappears in your life this season: they are drawn to your energy of success, ambition, and self-love. Bees are always drawn to flowering roses, but make sure they’re only bringing love and honey your way and not just looking to exploit your internal & external beauty for all its worth! A romantic interest from your past may come back into your scope of view, but don’t let it act as a distraction from your upward trajectory. They live in the past for a reason––no need to revisit old ghosts.

  • musical anthem: If you’ve been feeling at all anxious and alone and find yourself seeking understanding from others that just isn’t all the way there, look no further than Ariana Grande’s Get Well Soon straight off of her newest album, Sweetener. Grande has dealt with her fair share of tragedy and complex, reactionary emotions, and this sweet, impactful tune will have you feeling and healing alongside this pop princess.

  • entertainment craving: In the mood for smart comedy, lovable characters, seemingly endless plot twists, and a lesson in moral philosophy you didn’t ask for? Try NBC’s The Good Place, ranked one of the top TV shows of 2017 by Complex, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone. It’s the perfect show for a Virgo to digest (read: binge) and unpack. For more light-hearted comedy, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) is a classic for lazy days in, while still providing enough historical cameos to make any nerdy Virgo soul happy.

Libra (sep 23-oct 22)

spirituality-man-repeller-april-2018-Ellen-2-636x954.jpg
  • general overview & traits: Libras, for the most part, are very sociable and enjoy being with others. Even introverted Libras, who recharge best when spending time in their own company, are nothing but warm and affectionate towards loved ones and are always kind to strangers and acquaintances, if only out of politeness. Librans despise ugliness and aim to be surrounded by beauty and harmony. Because of this, they have a very particular and refined taste in clothing and music. They love being surrounded by aesthetically-pleasing things and are especially defensive when others don’t see the beauty in everything that they do. Libras are notoriously indecisive because they are capable of always seeing both sides of any question or topic. However, this quality also makes them incredibly fair-minded and good mediators in conflict. One-on-one encounters with a Libra may be challenging, as they thrive best alone or in the company of at least two people, but the deeply loyal and empathetic Libra is always there as a shoulder to cry on for those closest to her.

  • autumn horoscope: Your luck might not have been the best as of late (perhaps a lot of running late to class, or something important to you has just been lost), but it’s about to turn around. Strangely, as Venus is in retrograde motion, your love life and finances are about to soar into unparalleled directions! Since Venus governs your sign, Libras reap the luck and benefits that are pulled from the other signs during this time period. Make a conscious effort to not let yourself overthink so much this autumn; practice breathing exercises for any anxiety and treat your body and mind with the same kindness you would treat to your best friend with. It’s your time to thrive, so you are definitely entitled to living a little, but don’t celebrate so much that you end up falling back into the same pattern of making mistakes you’ll end up regretting, or even gravitating towards a toxic relationship from your past. Besides that, enjoy Scorpio season––which Libras always strangely thrive in––and take in all that life is trying to give you!

  • musical anthem: If you’ve been feeling at all blue or melancholic, especially towards a romantic interest (thanks Venus retrograde), it’s time you listen to the moody Each Time You Fall In Love by ambiance band Cigarettes After Sex.

  • entertainment craving: Libras love a good identity crisis -- it’s virtually synonymous with being a Libra. For a surreal journey into the self, consider Spike Jonze’s  (director of 2014’s Her) 1999 film, Being John Malkovich. If that’s not your cup of tea, dive into the highly-realistic award-winning Norwegian drama, Skam (a re-imagined Skins), which explores a variety of real and contemporary issues dealt with by teenagers and young adults across the globe like religion, abusive relationships, and sexuality to name a few..

Scorpio (october 23-november 21)

  • general overview & traits: The sign of bold enterprise, Scorpios have a fearless nature guided by self-control and confidence, but are often deeply affected by their own and others’ emotions, which are always intense and never superficial (the mere suggestion is even offensive to a Scorpio). Scorpios find it difficult to be understood, and this either affects a Scorpio deeply to their core, or does not affect their life in any way whatsoever––they are content being misunderstood. Scorpios prefer living life boldly: they are at time restless, easily jealous and suspicious, and need a great deal of emotional reassurance. They are very curious about deep and mysterious things, especially human nature and motivations, but have a complex relationship with studying and retaining knowledge. That is, they may become too distracted by another topic of interest that they can neglect what used to interest them. Scorpios move through life fast––they are considered the sign of the future––and at times they may be perceived as ruthless, tactless, or overly frank. While feelings are often very difficult to verbalize (causing a tendency to overthink and be quiet and broody), a Scorpio’s honest opinion or observation comes naturally to them, and their intuition is often correct. They are seldom overtly angry, but when they truly are, they are furious and unforgiving. Emotional commitments are total—Scorpios are not attracted to superficial or casual relationships. They are wilful, powerful, and quite tenacious.

  • autumn horoscope: Happy birthday, Scorpio! Whether your birthday has passed or is just about to hit, we want to wish you the happiest of days and the best of luck in your upcoming year! It hasn’t been easy for you lately, and adapting to the end of the summer has made you feel some kind of way. Whether it’s a flood of nostalgia or melancholia, you’ve felt off for quite a few weeks now. You may put on a brave face (as you always do), but underneath your thick skin it’s getting a little hard to breathe––and that’s okay. Your feelings are always valid and you need to stop second guessing yourself. If bad thoughts come, don’t immediately dismiss them as irrational. Understand them as they are: bad thoughts. Allow yourself to feel what you need to, let it pass, and then forgive yourself for even having thought such bad things in the first place. Healing is a journey, and you have been doing so, so well. In terms of your romantic life, take advantage of first few days of Scorpio season to take time for yourself. Once Halloween rolls around, it will be difficult to find a moment alone between the ensuing onslaught of romantic and social events heading your way.

  • musical anthem: Bask in the dreary, moody tones of Tonight I Feel Like Kafka by Jealous of the Birds and embrace the Scorpio typecast of a sensual, slightly bitter hipster.

  • entertainment craving: Get galactic with the sci-fi cult classic The Fifth Element straight out of the 90’s. Leeloo was almost definitely a Scorpio. And if you’re a Scorpio that hasn’t seen The End Of The F***ing World yet, wyd?

“Here I am, a bundle of past recollections and future dreams, knotted up in a reasonably attractive bundle of flesh. I remember what this flesh has gone through; I dream of what it may go through.” ― Sylvia Plath, October 27“I must have flowers, always, and always.” — Claude Monet, November 14
